TL;DR: This website will be sunset starting in June 2026. It will remain online until the end of 2026 at least. After being transferred to Squarespace after they bought Google Domains (my previous registrar), I quickly realized that they are le suckâ„¢ and decided to transfer this domain again. As it stands, halodev.games is currently on Cloudflare and because I had to pay for another year to transfer, this domain is basically free to operate until my next renewal in May 2027. As a result of closing HDG, I will also be giving up this domain to save some money on my end. So... what does this mean for you? For most people, nothing. I have plans to buy a new domain in June 2026 and once I have that site properly set up, I'll start redirecting all halodev.games traffic to the new website. If you use my hosted services (you know who you are), I will reach out to you directly with information at least 14 days before the switch. Things should redirect too, but no guarantees. You know my track record. For people who have a @halodev.games email address on file, once the switch has happened and you send an outwards email, you'll receive a reply back with a new email. Don't worry, your original email will be forwarded! And finally, for everyone else. If you are reading this, basically nothing will change for you aside from the the address in your address bar. This site will redirect to an identical copy on my new site after it's set up. Anyway, thank you for checking back in on this website! I will continue posting occasional updates, but everything from here on out will be non-critical.

To avoid repeating the same statement on every different platform, this page now houses updates about HDG. In the interest of transparency, I (ActuallyHalowo) would like to give you all an update on the current situation we are in on the Roblox platform. If you haven't seen yet, Roblox has enforced ID verification to use chat, has segregated people into age groups and has effectively demolished all forms of player interaction without forking over some form of government document. To avoid making this page 80% 'my views on privacy' by volume, I'll keep it short by saying I myself do not support this change. The implementation is incredibly heavy-handed and a massive violation of user privacy. It affects us developers massively. Community is one of the core values for HaloDev Games and this update directly stands in the way of that. No chat means no player engagement, those who are ID verified are segregated which means they engage less (if at all), and I myself don't get to interact with the community because I refuse to verify (not to mention, I would be segregated too). Not to mention the moderation problems this causes. For example, if someone were to bypass the chat filter to spam racist slurs and they were in a different age group to me, I wouldn't be able to see their messages and take action. There's a whole boatload of problems with this approach and it's been quite detremental to quite a few games, including an upcoming game I had planned which had a heavy focus on pushing the boundaries of the Roblox chat system. To add insult to injury, Roblox has also started locking Team Create behind ID verification, and will only allow users to collaborate with others in a similar age group. This threatens us as a team, and many other developers, especially those gaining their footing on the platform. I was originally hoping for Roblox to see the light and roll these changes back, but they either don't care or are oblivious to their stock price tanking. This left us with two options: suck it up and fork over our IDs to continue developing, or close up shop and move on. Based on what you are reading on this page, you can probably guess what option we chose. This update violates our core values, and we likely won't recover from this. Trust me when I say this announcement hurts, HaloDev Games has been my pride and joy for over 7 years, but we cannot exist on a platform which doesn't align with our values. I understand none of you want to hear this either, but all good things must come to an end eventually, I was just hoping the end was in 5 to 10 more years. Sadly, this also means all of the projects announced as part of the 10 year anniversary will likely never see the light of day either, so I will make a YouTube video with a comprehensive showcase of all of them. Words cannot describe how sorry I am to share this news. I would like to give a big and sincere thank you to everyone who was a member of the HDG community over the years, to those who supported us during dry spells, to those who played our games, and especially to our contributors. It meant the world to us. Whatever happens, I wish you all the best going forwards. Thank you all for your support, we wouldn't have gotten here without each and every single one of you!
